Chocolate Cookies

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon soda 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup sugar 1 egg--beaten 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 squares unsweetened chocolate-melted 3/4 cup buttermilk Blend butter until smooth. Add both sugars and blend until smooth. Add egg and beat mixture until fluffy. Add vanilla cooled chocolate...stir well. Add all dry ingredients a small amount at a time..adding a bit of buttermilk between each addition. Stir until well blended. On sprayed or greased cookie sheet...place a teaspoonful of dough, about 2 inches apart. Oven 375 degrees. Bake for 12 minutes. CAREFULLY remove from cookie sheet to wire rack to cool completely. Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies. Enjoy!
